Little Chit Chatting Between Mom and Daughter
The other night, I was talking with J.Bear about what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said "well the thing is I want to be a lot of things". She wants to be a teacher, artist ("because it is really fun to draw"), a world traveler and an actress on TV.
I asked about the places she wanted to visit on her world traveling. Here is a list of places and why she wants to go there:
Australia-"to see what it is like because it is a small place on the globe"
France- " to see the Eiffel Tower"
Italy-"to eat pasta"
New York-"to see the tall buildings and Statue of Liberty"
California -"Hollywood"
Hawaii-"I think it is just cool"
We came up with a plan. She would act on tv first. That way she could make money to travel. Then she would draw pictures (artist) on her trips around the world(world traveler). She could sell her pictures she draws, that way she would still be making money. After all that fun, she would come home and become a teacher.
Sounds like a great plan, but I asked when would she have time to visit me. She told me that she would always make time to come home. That's my girl.

Glorious Day
One afternoon, about two months ago, Torpedo told me that he wanted to get baptized. I asked him "do you know what that means?". He said " so i won't be bad anymore and my sins will be washed away". That is a start, I thought.
He then started meeting with Julie Davis the Children's Minister at our church. They met once a week for about 3 or 4 weeks to talk about baptism. He looked forward to going to met her, each and every time we took him.
Then the time came to decide, who and when to get him baptized. At first he wanted his daddy to do it, but then he decided that he wanted his daddy to be able to watch him.
I asked him about Julie baptizing him. His response was "no". When I asked why, he said it was because she was a girl. Typical 1st grader answer.
He decided that Drew Henderson would do it. Drew and his family are great friends to us. Drew is also Torpedo's best friends dad. We were happy with his choice.
Today was the day that Torpedo made a lifetime commitment to Christ. We are so proud of him. We are excited to see what God has in store for him.
Soaked boys! Don't you just love Torpedo's smile in this picture. He was smiling from ear to ear.
If you ask him today why he got baptized, his response is "so i could have Jesus in my heart." Rejoice in our awesome God!!!
*Thanks to Kim (Drew's wife and an awesome friend) for taking these pictures, so that we could enjoy the moment. Henderson's you are a blessing to our family. We love you!!!!

What Torpedo learned at school?
This is what a girl taught Torpedo at school.
Sung as a song:
"Hey Torpedo,
it's your birthday!
No it's not,
party anyway!"
Torpedo has been having fun singing it and added other names in.

Song about Gus
This was an entry in J. Bears writing journal for school. J. Bear says it is a song. I got so tickled over it. I had to share it.
"I have a dog, he is funny and he will chase a bunny. His name is Gus and he will get on the bus. He sees in black and white and he got a shirt that was too tight."

First Day of School!
Today was the first day of 1st grade for Torpedo and 3rd grade for J. Bear.
Torpedo told me this morning that he had a weird feeling in his tummy. I asked why and his response was "because it is my first day of school."
The things Torpedo is looking forward to in 1st grade is his new teacher (she is a first year teacher) and his friends.
J. Bear woke up with a giant smile on her face and that smile never faded. She was so ready.
J. Bear is looking forward to learning more about math (her favorite) and science.
We are real excited for the upcoming school year.

2nd Favorite Thing in the World
Torpedo likes to ask "What is your 2nd favorite thing in the world?" He has been asking this to all of us for the last couple of weeks. (that child when he gets stuck on something, he can't let it go)
He says "2nd favorite thing" because he said God is number one.
Well, I am wondering what's your 2nd favorite thing in the world. Leave your answer in the comments. It will light up Torpedo's day just to see what you all say.
Torpedo's is video games
Big Daddy's is "spending time with my family"
J. Bear's is "I don't know, I like a lot of things" (she tells Torpedo that all the time)
Mine is my family. I have a wonderful, hard working husband and two dorky, crazy and beautiful children. I couldn't ask for anything more than that.

Switch-a-roo
This is Gus before I got on the wonderful worldwide web and learned how to groom him. What a fluff ball. Yes, I groomed him not a professional.
This is after. He looks like a different dog. If we didn't know his personality, we would think someone switched our dog with a different one. I love the black tip on his tail. It gives him character.

Let's Go Fly A Kite!
J. Bear and Big Daddy at Boomer Lake. I like the way the clouds look in this pic.
Big Daddy told J. Bear not to get the kite stuck in the trees. Her solution was just to raise her arm up. Like that was really going to help. Nice try!
No Charlie Brown kite eating tree this day!

The Boy and his Dog
One night as I was tucking Torpedo into bed, he said " I want dad to teach Gus to pray". I responded " We just prayed and the dog was with us, so he was praying too." Torpedo said "no I want him to bow down and close his eyes." I think Torpedo thinks of the dog as a real part of the family, human not dog.
The other great story about the boy and his dog happened a couple of nights ago. Torpedo was getting out of the shower and drying off. He was whipping the towel around and Gus was attacking him and the towel. All of a sudden Torpedo crouched down into a ninja move and yelled "the power of Jesus" and attacked Gus.
I love the fact that in his own strange ways the boy wants to share Jesus with his dog.

GUS
Meet Gus, he is the new addition to our family. He is a 9 week old Cairn terrior.
He is rip roaring to go in the mornings. He is learning to like his crate. He slept 6 hours last night which was a great thing. It is like having another baby around the house. We are all totally in love with him and I am pretty sure he is in love with us, too.

Book Worms
J.Bear is a great reader. She likes the Rainbow Fairy and Junie B.Jones books. Right now she is reading a Geronimo Stilton book.
Torpedo is learning to read. He is learning with a set of BOB books. It has to be his idea to read or he isn't interested. I think he knows how to read more than he lets on.
