Freedom From Sin
About a month ago, J. Bear told us that she was ready to get baptized. When she told us, Torpedo jump up and said "It is about time. I have been waiting for this".
On the 4th of July, she gave her life to Christ. On that day, we all celebrate the freedom of our nation. It was cool that J. Bear could also celebrate her freedom of sin. This is Julie, the kid's awesome, fun loving Children Minister.

Rotten Sandwich
written, at school (3rd grade), by J. Bear

I'm a rotten sandwich on the shelf. No one has ate me that's why I'm rotten. I see food come on the shelf and off. I'm made of bread, cheese, tomato, lettuce and tuna. Everyday when I wake up I smell like garbage. I don't know why they don't throw me in the garbage. There is one more thing you want to know about me. I can't....remember anything!!! See i don't even remember what I said. I think it was about a crazy Kerim and Jauchan. I am 87 years old. When I was 1001 years old, I had a dream.... No Wait! It was real, no a dream, no real. Dream, real, dream, real. See I can't remember that. So I can't tell that story, so I will make up a story. Once a upon a time there was a boy princess (which was me). He wore a pink dress and crown. One day he married a girl prince and she liked red. On their honeymoon, they got eaten.
The End
Did you like that story, I didn't, because i married a dragon.
The End

Stories by J. Bear
A stories written, by J. Bear, at school.
Vegetable Soup
I'm vegetable soup. I always dream about being famous. I want to be on tv and sing! But all I can do is sit in a can til I get eaten. I always practice singing. Today I got off the shelf and I went on a plane. I have no idea where I am going. The plane stopped and went to a huge building I went up to the 13th floor. And guess what..... I'm on tv! I'm famous. My dream came true, OH NO! Someone is pulling me off the shelf! I was dreaming that I was famous.
Treasure Chest
My name is Chester the Chest. One night I saw a star. I made a wish that the next day I would be in space. Then next I woke up and I was in space. I looked behind me and I saw a alien! The alien took me and we went in the spaceship. But when I got in the spaceship I found out that the alien is a human. They looked inside me and said "treasure"! Hey! Where did the spaceship go? Oh! I had a dream.

Little Chit Chatting Between Mom and Daughter
The other night, I was talking with J.Bear about what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said "well the thing is I want to be a lot of things". She wants to be a teacher, artist ("because it is really fun to draw"), a world traveler and an actress on TV.
I asked about the places she wanted to visit on her world traveling. Here is a list of places and why she wants to go there:
Australia-"to see what it is like because it is a small place on the globe"
France- " to see the Eiffel Tower"
Italy-"to eat pasta"
New York-"to see the tall buildings and Statue of Liberty"
California -"Hollywood"
Hawaii-"I think it is just cool"
We came up with a plan. She would act on tv first. That way she could make money to travel. Then she would draw pictures (artist) on her trips around the world(world traveler). She could sell her pictures she draws, that way she would still be making money. After all that fun, she would come home and become a teacher.
Sounds like a great plan, but I asked when would she have time to visit me. She told me that she would always make time to come home. That's my girl.

Glorious Day
One afternoon, about two months ago, Torpedo told me that he wanted to get baptized. I asked him "do you know what that means?". He said " so i won't be bad anymore and my sins will be washed away". That is a start, I thought.
He then started meeting with Julie Davis the Children's Minister at our church. They met once a week for about 3 or 4 weeks to talk about baptism. He looked forward to going to met her, each and every time we took him. Then the time came to decide, who and when to get him baptized. At first he wanted his daddy to do it, but then he decided that he wanted his daddy to be able to watch him.
I asked him about Julie baptizing him. His response was "no". When I asked why, he said it was because she was a girl. Typical 1st grader answer.
He decided that Drew Henderson would do it. Drew and his family are great friends to us. Drew is also Torpedo's best friends dad. We were happy with his choice.Today was the day that Torpedo made a lifetime commitment to Christ. We are so proud of him. We are excited to see what God has in store for him.
Soaked boys! Don't you just love Torpedo's smile in this picture. He was smiling from ear to ear.
If you ask him today why he got baptized, his response is "so i could have Jesus in my heart." Rejoice in our awesome God!!!
*Thanks to Kim (Drew's wife and an awesome friend) for taking these pictures, so that we could enjoy the moment. Henderson's you are a blessing to our family. We love you!!!!

What Torpedo learned at school?
This is what a girl taught Torpedo at school.
Sung as a song:
"Hey Torpedo,
it's your birthday!
No it's not,
party anyway!"
Torpedo has been having fun singing it and added other names in.

Song about Gus
This was an entry in J. Bears writing journal for school. J. Bear says it is a song. I got so tickled over it. I had to share it.
"I have a dog, he is funny and he will chase a bunny. His name is Gus and he will get on the bus. He sees in black and white and he got a shirt that was too tight."

First Day of School!
Today was the first day of 1st grade for Torpedo and 3rd grade for J. Bear.Torpedo told me this morning that he had a weird feeling in his tummy. I asked why and his response was "because it is my first day of school."
The things Torpedo is looking forward to in 1st grade is his new teacher (she is a first year teacher) and his friends.
J. Bear woke up with a giant smile on her face and that smile never faded. She was so ready.
J. Bear is looking forward to learning more about math (her favorite) and science. We are real excited for the upcoming school year.
